First foreign malaria case in 2024 identified in Quang Binh

Patient N.V.C.(Nam, born in 1993, resides in Hung Trach commune, Bo Trach district, Quang Binh province), the main occupation goes to the forest.Patients who have never had malaria and an outdoor disease.

Before the onset of illness, the patient had a forest time in Thailand (from August 17-31, 2024).When coming home, in early September, the patient appeared symptoms of fever, tremor, sweating, headache and dry cough.

On September 24, the patient was taken to the hospital by his family members.On September 25, the disease control center in Quang Binh province cooperated with the Vietnam-Cuba Friendship Hospital to take samples for tests and diagnostic classifications: Normal malaria.Patients are monitored and treated malaria, health is gradually stabilizing.

As soon as the disease was discovered, the disease control center in Quang Binh province directed the Bo Trach District Medical Center to supervise the case of close contact with the patient, especially the members of the household and the area.The area around the patient's housing within 30 days from the date the patient's onset to take the initiative, promptly handle, not to spread the disease in the community.
